What is restaking?
Restaking ETH lets you take assets you have already staked and “opt in” to securing additional protocols and services while still earning your base Ethereum staking rewards. In return for taking on additional risk, restakers receive additional rewards.
What is the difference between Ethereum staking rewards and EigenLayer restaking rewards?
Ethereum staking rewards are the base rewards received by your ETH validator for participating in Ethereum consensus (proposal/attestation duties). These rewards are governed by Ethereum’s protocol rules and validator performance.
EigenLayer restaking rewards are additional rewards that come from opting your already-staked ETH into EigenLayer and having it used to secure AVSs (Actively Validated Services).
What is the current NRR from EigenLayer restaking?

What risks are involved with restaking? Is there slashing?
Yes, restaking introduces additional slashing risk beyond the risks associated with standard Ethereum validators.
EigenLayer slashing risk is often tied to:
The Operator you delegate to (their performance/behavior across AVSs)
The AVSs the Operator opts into (different AVSs can have different conditions and risk profiles)
Protocol rules that can penalize (slash) restaked assets for certain faults or misbehavior. As restakers delegate to Operators, an Operator’s misbehavior or failure to meet AVS requirements can reduce a restaker’s balance.
How does Eigenlayer address restaking risks?
Transparent delegation choices: restakers choose whether to delegate and to whom.
Protocol-enforced rules: slashing conditions and withdrawal delays are defined by the protocol.
What happens if I don't checkpoint — do I lose rewards or just delay accounting/withdrawals?
You don't lose rewards by skipping checkpoints — you just delay their recognition as restaked. Validator rewards (consensus rewards and any ETH sent directly to the EigenPod) accrue in your EigenPod automatically, but they stay "unproven" until you run a checkpoint. A checkpoint is the proof process that converts the reward into actively restaked shares and refreshes your EigenPod Checkpointed Balance.
Are there minimums/maximums (validators per EigenPod, delegation constraints, withdrawal limits)?
EigenPod per address: One — an Ethereum address can deploy a single EigenPod, and ownership cannot be transferred.
Validators per EigenPod: No hard cap — you can repoint any number of validators to the same EigenPod (consolidating is encouraged for cost/complexity). Operationally, however, each checkpoint proof transaction batches up to 80 validators, so users with more validators will need additional transactions per checkpoint.
Withdrawals: You can queue any amount up to your restaked balance. All withdrawals pass through the 14-day escrow period.
How do I withdraw from EigenLayer?
Exiting EigenLayer can be multi-step because restaked assets go through EigenLayer withdrawal flows and timing constraints.
If you’re delegated to an Operator
If the restaked position is delegated, this typically needs to be undelegated first. After the delay, you complete the withdrawal.
For Native Restaking (ETH via EigenPod)
1. Queue a withdrawal
The withdrawal is initiated by queuing the desired amount (up to the amount EigenLayer considers withdrawable based on the pod’s current proven/checkpointed state).
2. Ensure your withdrawable amount is checkpointed
If the amount being withdrawn exceeds the pod's checkpointed or proven balance, a checkpoint may need to be run first so that the pod's state reflects the latest available balance for withdrawal.
3. Wait for the EigenLayer escrow/withdrawal delay, then complete the withdrawal
After the required delay — referred to as an escrow period — the withdrawal can be completed back to the wallet.
Are rewards still earned during the unbonding / withdrawal delay?
During the EigenLayer withdrawal delay (escrow), assets are not earning EigenLayer/AVS rewards and cannot be moved.
