How to top up 0x02 Ethereum (ETH) validator(s) using the P2P.org dApp

Connect your wallet and top up your ETH 0x02 validator with the P2P.org non-custodial dApp.

Written by Sekai

With Pectra, 0x02 validators can top up their balance with ETH instead of waiting till they have 32 ETH to spin up a new validator, e.g if the staker has a 50 ETH validator and then acquired 10 ETH more, the validator can be topped up to become a 60 ETH validator. The top up action triggers an on chain transaction to the Ethereum deposit contract that adds balance to a validator and is not a deposit with P2P.org.

Prerequisites

  • Validator should be 0x02 (Pectra) type

  • Validator should already be active

  • Funding wallet must have at least 1 ETH to top up.

To top up a 0x02 (Pectra) validator, use the Top up action in the P2P.org staking dApp, then enter the amount and confirm the wallet transaction.

  • Click Connect Wallet. If you cannot find your wallet in the supported list, you can use Wallet Connect.

  • Navigate to the Portfolio tab.

  • Click Top Up or click the 3 dots next to the 0x02 validator that you want to top up.

  • Enter the amount you want to add to the balance.

💡 You can top up any amount that is at least 1 ETH. For example, you can top up 1.21 ETH. The total amount on the validator should remain at 1 920 ETH or less after top-up.

If the top-up would exceed the cap, per the dApp logic, it splits the deposit into multiple validators (e.g. 2 000 ETH will be split into 2 × 1 000 ETH validators) rather than letting a single validator grow further toward the 2 048 ETH MEB.

  • Click Top up

  • Sign the transaction in your wallet.

That’s it, you have successfully topped up your validator. You can track the deposit request queue on https://www.pectrified.com/mainnet for the validator. The updated balance will show after the deposit is accepted.

💡Things to keep in mind

  • Staking with P2P.org is fully non-custodial: clients retain control of their ETH at all times, and P2P.org never holds or accesses client funds.

  • Compounding and reward accrual are determined by the Ethereum protocol and network conditions, are variable, and are not guaranteed.

  • Slashing risks are protocol defined and client borne. Operational safeguards are implemented but do not eliminate protocol risk.
